Happy National Redhead Day!

It's a thing... I am married to one... Let's break it down.

(Most of these facts I ripped from Cosmopolitan Magazine, so you know they're all true.)

Less than 2% of the world's population has red hair. The highest concentration of redheads is in Scotland (13%), followed by Ireland (10%).

Having red hair and blue eyes is the rarest hair/eye color combination possible. The odds of a person having both of those recessive traits is around 0.17%. Instead, most redheads have brown, hazel, or green eyes, according to Medical Daily.

Redheads are more sensitive to pain because of a mutation in one of their genes and need about 20% more general anesthesia than people with dark hair or blonde color.

Redheads have less hair and thicker strands than most people. On average, it’s believed that those with red hair have 90,000 strands, while blondes have around 110,000 and brunettes have 140,000.

Redheads are less likely to go grey. The pigment in red hair typically fades over time from red to blonde and white, but not grey.

Redheads produce more Vitamin D in a shorter amount of time than people with other hair colors.

And I ran out of GIFs, so I will run out of facts… However, I will close with a piece of advice that my grandfather gave me 25 years ago when he found out I was engaged to a redhead.

He said, "When there's rust on the roof, it's always damp in the basement."

RIP, Pop-Pop, and enjoy the day, you ginger freaks.

Take a report.
